In recent years, there have been a number of extreme reactions towards plastic that have encouraged people to reject it and even ban it. For this reason, the plastics industry has joined forces to\u00a0highlight 10 benefits<\/strong>\u00a0of this type of material.<\/p>\n

    \n<\/strong>Plastic is currently the most regulated material and the one that is subject to the\u00a0most demanding regulations.<\/strong>\u00a0It is not a toxic material.<\/li>\n
  2. They preserve food and reduce food waste
    \n<\/strong>The use of plastic containers\u00a0reduces food wastage<\/strong>\u00a0and energy consumption. The loss of products in Europe is only 3% thanks to the use of suitable packaging products.<\/li>\n
  3. They save lives
    \n<\/strong>They are the material that\u00a0has contributed most to progress<\/strong>\u00a0over the last 100 years. An example of this is modern medicine, which cannot be achieved without plastics.<\/li>\n
  4. They have long-lasting uses
    \n<\/strong>Plastic is used in cars, homes, mobiles, etc., in other words, in\u00a0other words, in products with a long lifespan<\/strong>\u00a0and which account for more than 60% of all plastic material applications.<\/li>\n
  5. They do not deplete oil reserves

  10. Reduce, Reuse and Recycle, everyone\u2019s responsibility

    Don\u2019t Blame Plastic!\u00a0We citizens are part of the solution<\/strong>\u00a0to this serious problem. What can we do?<\/p>\n

    • Separate the waste<\/strong>\u00a0we generate by using different containers.<\/li>\n
    • Take advantage of the\u00a0tremendous energy potential<\/strong>\u00a0contained in plastics. It is an alternative source of available energy.<\/li>\n
    • Reduce the consumption of plastic bags.<\/strong>\u00a0Let\u2019s put the three Rs into practice: reduce their use, reuse them and close the circle by recycling them and giving them a second life.<\/li>\n
    • Responsible use of waste<\/strong>\u00a0at the end of the life of each product.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

      In short, plastic gives us a lot in exchange for very little. The\u00a0rejection or banning of it is not a realistic solution<\/strong>\u00a0at present, because it would force us, as a society, to forgo all its advantages, from its versatility and durability to its contribution to the creation of new jobs.<\/p>\n
